In an unexpected incident, a semi-truck burst into flames after it was hit by an Amtrak train in Florida. According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office , the train was transporting 72 passengers along with 14 crew members at the time of the accident. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported as a result of this dramatic collision.
The collision occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Southwest Warfield Boulevard and Southwest Amaryllis Avenue in Indiantown, as shared by Martin County Fire Rescue in a social media post. The truck driver was attempting to cross the railroad tracks when the train struck the vehicle, sparking a fire that quickly engulfed the truck.
Thankfully, fire crews responded promptly and managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread further. The truck driver and a passenger inside the vehicle were fortunate to escape with only minor injuries, according to fire rescue reports. Their quick actions likely helped prevent a more serious outcome. As for the passengers aboard the Amtrak train, they were instructed to remain on board until a new train could arrive to transport them. While the situation was undoubtedly stressful, all involved were relieved that the incident did not result in any major injuries or fatalities.
