Canadian authorities have released dash cam footage to stress how crucial it is for truckers to maintain their vehicles properly. The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) shared the video on August 20, showing the dramatic moment a wheel detached from a semi-trailer and crashed into a stationary construction vehicle. In the video, the semi-trailer's wheel comes loose in an instant, launching across the reduced-speed construction zone located on the south perimeter. It hurtles into the parked construction truck with such force that it shakes the camera filming the event. The impact is powerful and startling, and it raises the question: What if that wheel had struck a worker instead of the truck?
This video serves as a strong reminder of how important vehicle safety is for everyone on the road. It also highlights the vital work carried out by the Vehicle Inspection Section, whose job it is to keep our highways secure. But beyond the concern for vehicles, we must remember that construction zones are more than just sites for road improvements - they are active workplaces. Workers in these areas face dangerous conditions daily to make our roads better, and it's up to all drivers to ensure their safety isn't jeopardized further.
